Case Studies in Criminal Procedure

Description

This case book focuses on federal consitutional principles, and specifically focuses on how those principles work.  The introductory comments to each chapter refresh the students' memories of the rules and the reasons the rules were established.  The students are then challenged to evaluate what was done in each case, and analyze whether it was consitutional or not.  These materials are instructive for students of consitutional law and for police who are required to know how to investigate constitutionally.

Features

Includes references to over 100 cases covering all major constitutional rules-such as probable cause, warrants, exceptions to 4th Amendment protections, interrogation, and pre-trial identification.

  • Provides a review of major constitutional rules and demonstrates how constitutional rules come into play during criminal investigations.

Focuses on how rules are interpreted and applied in real cases-throughout the text.

  • Shows how constitutional rules are applied to actual facts in a case.
