For courses in two-semester A&P.
Using Art Effectively to Teach the Toughest Topics in A&P
Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology helps students succeed in the challenging A&P course with an easy-to-understand narrative, precise visuals, and steadfast accuracy. With the 11th Edition, the author team draws from recent research exploring how students use and digest visual information to help students use art more effectively to learn A&P. New book features encourage students to view and consider figures in the textbook, and new narrated videos guide students through complex physiology figures to help them deconstruct and better understand complicated processes. Instructors can also request a new handbook by Lori Garrett, entitled The Art of Teaching A&P: Six Easy Lessons to Improve Student Learning, which explores some of the most common challenges encountered when using art to teach A&P, alongside strategies to address these challenges.
Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology not included. Students, if Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology is a recommended/mandatory component of the course, please ask your instructor for the correct ISBN and course ID. Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology should only be purchased when required by an instructor. Instructors, contact your Pearson representative for more information.
Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology is an online homework, tutorial, and assessment product designed to engage students and improve results by helping students stay on track in the course and quickly master challenging A&P concepts. Features in the text are supported Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology assignments, including new SmartArt Videos, Interactive Physiology 2.0, Dynamic Study Modules, Learning Catalytics, Spotlight Figure Coaching Activities, lab study tools, Get Ready for A&P, plus a variety of Art Labeling Questions, Clinical Application Questions, and more.

About the Book
SmartArt Videos, narrated by author and anatomical art expert Kevin Petti, walk students through complex physiology figures. The videos help students deconstruct and better understand complicated processes, and provide additional background and detail. They are accessible via QR code in the book with accompanying assignments available in Pearson MasteringTM Anatomy & Physiology.

Dr. Frederic (Ric) H. Martini received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in Comparative and Functional Anatomy for work on the pathophysiology of stress. In addition to a wide range of professional publications, he is the lead author of 10 undergraduate texts on Anatomy and Physiology. Dr. Martini is currently affiliated with the University of Hawaii at Mano and has a long-standing bond with the Shoals Marine Laboratory, a joint venture between Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire.
He has been active in the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) for over 24 years and is currently a President Emeritus of HAPS, after serving as President-Elect, President, and Past-President from 2005-2007.
Dr. Judi L. Nath (Ph.D.) is a Biology professor and the writer-in-residence at Lourdes University, where she teaches at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Primary courses include Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Medical Terminology, and Science Writing. Her doctoral work focused on autoimmunity, and she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Toledo.
She has won the Faculty Excellence Award - an accolade recognising effective teaching scholarship, and community service - multiple times, and was Ohio's Memorable Educator in 2013. She is an active member of many professional organisations, notably the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), where she has served on the Board of Directors for several terms.
Mr. Edwin F. Bartholomew (M.S.) received his Undergraduate Degree from Bowling Green State University and his Master's Degree from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Bartholomew has taught Human Anatomy and Physiology at both Secondary and Undergraduate levels. In addition, he has taught courses ranging from botany to zoology at Maui Community College (now University of Hawaii Maui College).
Mr. Bartholomew is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), the National Association of Biology Teachers, the National Science Teachers Association, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
